coolidge park shooting and chattanooga park crime incidents involving teens |
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Two teenagers are in custody following a shooting incident at Coolidge Park on Saturday night.
Police responded to reports of gunfire at 150 River Street around 9:20 p.m. Upon arrival, officers observed people fleeing the area and heard ongoing shots. Witnesses indicated the gunfire originated near the carousel and the Blue Rhino.
One suspect, identified as 18-year-old Demarion Langston, was seen wearing a blue hoodie and carrying an AK-47. He was accompanied by two individuals dressed in black. Langston was later apprehended after residents reported seeing him running through nearby woods. The AK-47 was recovered in the same area.
The second suspect, 18-year-old Londen Porter, was detained near a parking garage on Frazier Avenue. A search of a vehicle associated with the suspects yielded two firearms: a 9mm Smith & Wesson and a 9mm Sig-Sauer 365 X Macro. The Sig-Sauer was reported stolen from a firearm shipment.
Both Langston and Porter face charges including possession of a stolen firearm, felony reckless endangerment, threats of mass violence, and disorderly conduct. This incident underscores growing concerns about teen gun violence in Chattanooga. |
